[Using Sakai] Sakai Working Sessions at the Denver Conference

As we near the conference, I wanted to make sure people are aware of
the Working Sessions and dedicated 24/7 workspace for people
collaborating on projects (the Bristol Cone room will be available
24/7 from Monday at 8:00am–Thursday at 6:00pm).

People have already begun to flesh out an agenda of areas of focus
during the working sessions—ad hoc projects of any type are also
welcome. Add yours today!

I'd like to call special attention to the work of the Teaching &
Learning Group on the Learning Capabilities document, now released in
1.0 form. There will be many opportunities at the conference to
discuss this important work and how it might intersect with Sakai
design and development activities. The working sessions will be an
excellent time/space to focus on the learning capabilities in relation
to other tangible work.

There is also a working session agenda item to create Sakai
screencasts and other user-friendly documentation, which can be an
excellent exercise for ANYONE engaged in Sakai—whether you are an
expert or just want to learn more—others will likely be ready to help
you learn how to create screencasts, if you don't already know how.

You do not have to come to the formal Start and Stop conference
sessions to participate in the working sessions. Drop by the working
session space at any time, even if it's just to see what's going on!

We invite participation in the working sessions from Sakai community
members with all skills and experiences. Developers make good stuff
only with direct input from everyone—students, instructors,
instructional designers, implementers, user-experience designers,
big-picture thinkers—or in a word: YOU. Spend some of your conference
time helping the  community fix, build, and improve Sakai.

Working Session Start: Targets & Plans
---
Tue, June 15, 10:00am – 11:05am
WindRiver A/B
This session will introduce and organize actual work on Sakai to take
place throughout the conference. We will collaborate to identify good
projects for the working session, using suggestions gathered before
the conference and "unconference" techniques. Learn more about the
session and add your suggested projects to the wiki:

Working Session Stop: Accomplishments & Next Steps
---
Thu, June 17, 8:30am – 9:35am
WindRiver A/B (map)
Late in the conference, Sakai working session participants will gather
to report back to the full community about work undertaken at the
conference: What was attempted? What was achieved? What worked and
what didn't? Participants will also discuss how to extend their work
beyond the conference and inspire continued workgroup activity at
other Sakai gatherings and throughout the community. How can we
increase participation in Sakai development processes? How can we
inform and educate the community about how development takes place?
